Datalight's Flash FX Pro and Reliance products have been selected by Texas Instruments for its OMAPV1030 platform for the mobile device market.

Datalight's Flash FX Pro and Reliance products have been selected by Texas Instruments for its OMAPV1030 platform for the mobile device market.

Reliance is a transactional file system, specifically designed for embedded devices, which preserves both user data and metadata during an unexpected power loss.

FlashFX Pro - a Flash manager and Flash driver - ensures the integrity of data stored on resident Flash and makes it simple for software applications to access the Flash chip just as they would a hard disk drive.

The unique ability of Reliance to coexist with native FAT file systems will allow TI customers to store critical information within a Reliance formatted partition, and not-so-critical data in the less reliable FAT partition.

The company will be using FlashFX Pro to allow its customers' application software to access the Flash memory on the board as easily as they would a hard disk.

"Datalight was the obvious choice when evaluating our need for products that offered both performance and reliability".

"Datalight's support of numerous Flash technologies allows us to provide a unified interface and to protect our investment for the future", said Victor Epifani, 2.5G Business and Marketing Director, TI.

"During our evaluation and development, Datalight has always been responsive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with".

"TI is an ideal customer for Datalight - one that focuses their resources on what they do best, which is deliver high-quality reference designs that allow their OEMs to get their innovative products to market faster", stated Roy Sherrill, President of Datalight.

Today's sophisticated handsets are becoming for many customers the primary device on which they store photos, music and video as well as critical information such as business contacts, calendar and e-mails.

With increased competitive pressure on mobile device manufacturers it is critical for them to get the basic features covered quickly and easily so they can focus on differentiating their software applications.

The TI OMAPV1030 chipset with Datalight FlashFX Pro and Reliance allows mobile phone manufacturers to bring innovative and reliable multimedia feature phones to market.

Datalight products are available in Europe through Logic Technology.
