HV connector has nuclear pedigree

A Lemo UK product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jun 19, 2003

The "05" miniature high-voltage connector was originally developed to meet the requirements of the Atlas experimental nuclear research programme at CERN.

Lemo developed its new "05" miniature high-voltage connector to meet the requirements of the Atlas experimental nuclear research programme at CERN.

Measuring only 6mm in diameter (9mm for outside of fixing nut) this connector is ideal for applications where minimal mass and space savings are critical factors.

It is rated for 3kV DC operating voltage and is also available in multicontact versions.

The connector features the reliable Lemo push-pull connection system which is easy to connect and disconnect, but is fully secure against accidental disconnection, vibration or shock.

Additional security is provided by a safety locking ring.

The push-pull system also facilitates operation in a very limited space thereby further assisting size reduction of any electronic equipment on which it is located.

The metal shell and earthing crown give full 360-degree screen continuity giving excellent EMC properties.

A crimp style contact and crimp barrel for the screen are employed for ease of assembly and consistency of termination.
