A new radio-frequency radiation monitor incorporates a data logging function that enables the unit to store up to 30,000 data points for subsequent downloading and analysis on a PC.

Available from Basingstoke-based Link Microtek, the Narda Nardalert XT uses a patented trisensor design to cover an extremely wide frequency range of 100kHz to 100GHz, making it suitable for use in almost any RF or microwave application.

The unit's compensated-diode detector yields accurate results even in complex, multisignal environments.

Available in a range of models with frequency response individually shaped to match the requirements of all major worldwide standards, the Nardalert XT features an adjustable alarm for two-tier standards that specify different limits for say "occupational" and "general population" exposure.

New to this series of personal monitors is an RF field strength indicator consisting of five high-intensity LEDs, which are clearly visible while wearing the monitor - even outdoors in the sun.

Another new feature is the built-in vibration alarm, which operates in conjunction with an audio alarm to alert the user if an exposure limit is exceeded.

At default setting, the built-in data logger records the average field strength every 5s, providing storage capacity for more than 40h of information.

An optional interface kit enables the user to adjust the logging interval as well as various other parameters.

Measuring just 10.5 x 7.6 x 3.5cm and weighing only 157g, the Nardalert XT has an operating temperature range of -10 to +55C and is powered by a single AA alkaline battery, achieving a battery life of 800h in standby mode.

The unit is supplied complete with pocket clip, belt clip, plastic storage box, battery and instruction manual.

In addition to the interface kit, other optional accessories include a remote vibrator, earphone, soft case with belt clip, and soft case for climber's harness.
