Basingstoke-based Link Microtek has been appointed as exclusive representative for TriQuint Semiconductor in the UK and Ireland.

Basingstoke-based Link Microtek has been appointed as exclusive representative for TriQuint Semiconductor in the UK and Ireland Early in 2002, Link started providing UK sales support for TriQuint's Sawtek subsidiary, which manufactures precision SAW (surface acoustic wave) filters for the wireless communications market

Then, during the second half of the year, TriQuint successfully carried out a series of major acquisitions - including the GaAs semiconductor business of Infineon Technologies, parts of the IBM mobile phone chipset business, and a substantial portion of the Agere Systems optoelectronics business.

According to Graham Teague, TriQuint's director of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, each of those acquisitions brought with it "relationships with representatives in various places, so we decided to consolidate this burgeoning network by appointing a single representative for each region".

"Link Microtek was chosen for the UK and Ireland not only because of the company's clear focus on the RF and microwave sector but also because of its ability to provide first-class logistics support", he said.

Link Microtek's sales director Tony Norris was ebullient about the new agreement: "Having been up against some stiff competition, we are absolutely delighted to have been selected as TriQuint's representative.

The Sawtek filters were an important addition to our product lineup, but now we can also offer customers the entire range of TriQuint products - from high-power RF amplifiers to optoelectronic components such as modulators, drivers, transceivers and laser sources".
