Demand prompts threefold VOA production rise

A Lightconnect product story

Lightconnect has increased production of its variable optical attenuators (VOAs) by 300% in the last quarter.

Lightconnect has increased production of its variable optical attenuators (VOAs) by 300% in the last quarter.

This is in response to a surge in demand for the company's recently launched Fast VOA 4000 by several leading optical systems manufacturers.

With 40dB attenuation range, this latest addition to Lightconnect's Fast VOA product line is able to block the transmission of light when no voltage is applied and reduce the amount of attenuation as the applied voltage is increased, thus providing additional protection for optical networks.

The Fast VOA 4000 has met the stringent reliability requirements listed in Telcordia 1209 and 1221.

"New automation initiatives have allowed us to boost productivity, reduce costs and shorten delivery times", said Sushil Shah, Lightconnect vice president of operations.

"The end result is our customers get a superior product at the right price, on time".

"Enhancements to our technology have allowed us to build VOAs with industry-leading optical performance", said Asif A Godil, Lightconnect chairman and CTO.

"We are delighted to see this translate into significant sales activity and increased orders".
