Around 90% of the fuses manufactured by Wickmann are now lead free and the complete product range will be lead free by mid 2005, well in advance of the RoHS Directive lead-free compliance deadline of July 2006 Product lines which are now completely compliant include the TR5 and TE5 ranges of subminiature fuses, telecomms interface, short-circuit, module and inrush protectors, surface-mount and resettable fuses

The company's plants in Germany and China have each been following a comprehensive roadmap to lead-free production, with the most popular devices being processed first.

Commenting on Wickmann's progress, director Dr Matthias Huber said: "With most of our products now lead free, this gives Wickmann a clear lead over the competition".

"Orders can be placed with us in the knowledge that our devices completely meet the compliance criteria".
