Bright showing from long-life LEDs
The Luxeon III is a new high-power 100kh-life LED that generates typical light output of 65 and 80 lumen from a single emitter at 700 and 1000mA operation, respectively.
RGB LED backlight is ready to use
The Luxeon DCC is billed as the first fully assembled LED-based RGB light source for use as an alternative to cold cathode fluorescent lamps in LCD backlights.
Designed to simplify the process of incorporating Luxeon light sources into lighting assemblies and end-user products, these new emitters represent a complete redesign of the Luxeon package Features will include: the worlds best light output, with performance in white of 65 to 130 lumens; and a maximum allowable junction temperature of 185C - a 50C increase and significantly higher than any other high-power LED.
It will reduce heatsink requirements, deliver more light at comparable ambient conditions, expand the use in higher temperature conditions, allow for higher current operation, simplify new and existing designs, and lower total solution costs.
The JEDEC moisture sensitivity level of 2a, allows for four weeks of unsealed factory floor life prior to preconditioning.

LED emitters need no heatsink up to 40C
LED emitters will yield more usable light per dollar by reducing heatsink requirements and permitting higher current operation for more applications and opening new design possibilities.
Other products have at best a JEDEC Level 4 rating, leaving only a 72-hour production window once the product is removed from its sealed production packaging.
New alignment features and datum reference points facilitate precision assembly for automotive applications and other products where tight positioning tolerance is critical.
Scheduled for summer release in white and seven colours, these additions to the Luxeon product line will set new industry standards in virtually every measured parameter.
The products will comply with the JEDEC J-STD 020c lead-free standard for customers that need to satisfy environmental mandates including Europe's WEEE and RoHS directives.
They will also withstand up to three reflow cycles, allowing for greater rework and production flexibility than any other high-brightness LED on the market.
"Our new Luxeon products will combine the ease of use of surface mount technology with the market's highest temperature and moisture resistance, an environmentally friendly lead-free package, and Luxeon's industry-leading lifetime, lumen and power performance", said Jason Posselt, Director of Product Marketing for Lumileds Lighting.
"These features not only establish new performance benchmarks, they expand the applications for Luxeon LEDs in the marketplace".
The new emitters will complement existing Luxeon products, giving manufacturers a choice of high-power Luxeon LEDs with assorted output capabilities, colours, configurations and radiation patterns.
