Current sensors slip on in a trice
LEM has three families of split-core current sensors that can be clamped around a busbar or cable without moving the conductor.
The design's clamp-on function allows mounting on site without splitting conductors, reducing the number of actions (no disconnection of the cable) and therefore reducing installation time still further and increasing safety.
The new product families are available for AC (AK and AKR series) and DC (DK series) from 2 to 500A.
The power supply can be self-powered with a 0-5 or 0-10V output, or loop powered with a 4-20mA output or a +24V DC output for the DC current version.
The AKR family uses a true RMS algorithm, which integrates the actual waveform over time, making it suitable for use in systems with nonlinear loads or "noisy" power environments.
The averaging technique used by the AK family is suitable for strictly linear loads.
These new transducers are well adapted for retrofit applications in existing installations.
