New ASIC boosts current transducer performance
The HAIS series of low-cost, PCB-mounted current transducers are designed to operate from a single +5V power supply.
The transducer aperture accepts bus bars as large as 8 x 15mm, in a very compact design of only 33 x 29 x 14mm.
The heart of the HAIS series is a custom ASIC, which provides a number of performance improvements, in particular an extended operating temperature range (-40 to +85C) compared to traditional discrete technology.
With the standard HAIS, the internal reference voltage of the ASIC is used to provide a fixed output offset of +2.5V.
This voltage reference is also made available on an external pin to allow it to be fed to the reference of an A/D convertor or a DSP.
The SP1 version provides a ratiometric output offset Vc/2 when the reference pin is not used.
The user can also apply the system's voltage reference (between 2.3 and 2.7V) to the reference pin, in which case the output offset is equal to the external reference.
This mode allows reference thermal drift to be cancelled.
An optional busbar (HAIS xx-TP models) is available for nominal ratings of 50 and 100A.
CE marked and conforming to the EN50178 standard, these transducers are designed for industrial applications.
