Current transducers suit low-voltage
applications

LEM has developed the HFIS 40-P and HFIS 70-P flat PCB-mounted current transducers.

The HFIS 40-P and HFIS 70-P are flat PCB-mounted current transducers The units operate from a single +5V supply, measure only 22 x 20 x 8.7mm and are designed for nominal current measurements of 40 and 70A RMS

The transducers will accept two types of primary conductor: either a round cable of 4.6mm diameter or a busbar measuring 7.2 x 2.6mm.

Both models have the same pinout and are intended for a wide variety of low-voltage applications.

Offset (at no primary current) and gain are ratiometric.

The initial offset is equal to Vcc/2 and the gain is defined as Vcc/5 x 0.64V for 40A (for the HFIS 40-P) and Vcc/5 x 0.7V for 70A (for the HFIS 70-P).

Both directly depend on power supply variations.

The rated single insulation voltage is 100V RMS when fully using the round aperture and 150V RMS when fully using the rectangular aperture (conditions: OVIII and PDII) according to EN50178.

This insulation can be improved by using an isolated cable or busbar.

The use of a unique LEM ASIC provides better offset and gain drifts, linearity and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to +125C, compared with traditional discrete technology.

The transducers are CE marked, conform to the EN50178 standard and are recognised for industrial applications.

LEM Components offers a five-year warranty for each transducer.
