Convertors boast of AC performance
The fastest ADC in Linear Technology's recently announced LTC2220 family achieves extremely low power consumption with excellent AC performance.
The fastest ADC in Linear Technology's recently announced LTC2220 family achieves extremely low power consumption with excellent AC performance In a 9 x 9mm QFN package and using just 890mW, the LTC2220 consumes 20% less power than its nearest competitor at this speed, has the smallest package size, yet achieves the industry's best AC performance - over 67.5dB SNR up to 140MHz input

ADC is attractive for undersampling
The LTC2220-1 is a 12bit 185Msample/s ADC claimed to achieve excellent AC performance with low power consumption.
Basestation convertor cuts power budget
A second-generation 14bit 80Msample/s ADC achieves extremely low power consumption with excellent AC performance.
The LTC2220 is the fastest of the four new ADCs introduced today by Linear Technology, as part of its expanding family of low power, high speed ADCs, which range from 10 to 170Msample/s at 12 and 10bit resolution, as well as 14bit convertors up to 80Msample/s.
The LTC2220 is ideal for cable modem termination systems (CMTS) supporting DOCSIS and similar standards.
These low power ADCs excel at undersampling, making them well suited for communications applications such as microwave links between cellular basestation transceivers and digital predistortion power amplifier linearisation.
The other devices introduced today include the 12bit, 135Msample/s LTC2221 and the 10bit LTC2230 and LTC2231.
In addition to the smaller package size, the system footprint of the LTC2220 is small, as fewer and smaller external bypass capacitors are needed.
Optimised for undersampling, the LTC2220 features a 775MHz bandwidth and achieves 74dB SFDR up to 250MHz input.
The digital outputs can be either differential LVDS for low digital switching noise, or single-ended CMOS.
A separate output power supply allows the CMOS output swing to range from 0.5 to 3.3V.
The pin-compatible LTC2221 at 135Msample/s features even lower power and 10bit versions at each speed are also in full production.
The four new ADCs complete Linear Technology's 24-member low power, high-speed ADC family.
The LTC2220 ADC family features industry-leading AC performance at every sample rate, the lowest power of any such ADCs in the industry, and pin-compatibility, allowing easy migration from 10 to 12 or 14bit, or to different sample rates.
All four new ADCs are now in production and are packaged in 9 x 9mm QFN packages. Request a free brochure from Linear Technology Corp ...
