Micropower convertor takes more onboard

The LT3473 is a 1A, 1.2MHz step-up micropower DC/DC convertor with an integrated Schottky diode and output disconnect circuitry in a low profile DFN package.

Linear Technology has announced the LT3473, a 1A, 1.2MHz step-up micropower DC/DC convertor with an integrated Schottky diode and output disconnect circuitry in a low profile DFN package The small package size, high level of integration and the use of tiny SMT components yield a solution size of less than 50mm2

The LT3473's 2.2 to 16V input voltage range enables it to operate from single cell Li-ion batteries up to fixed 15V input rails, delivering outputs up to 34V.

Its constant 1.2MHz switching frequency allows designers to keep switching noise out of noise-sensitive circuitry and enables the use of tiny capacitors and inductors.

The internal 1A switch allows the device to deliver up to 80mA at 25V from a Li-ion cell, making it ideal for OLED and TFT display applications.

Automatic burst mode operation reduces quiescent current to 150uA at no load, maximising battery run time.

An auxiliary reference input (CTRL) allows the user to override the internal 1.25V feedback reference with any lower value, ensuring full control of the output voltage during operation.

Additional features include: a power good flag and thermal shutdown.

The LT3473A includes two additional NPN transistors for generating intermediate bias voltages from the output and is offered in a 4 x 3mm DFN-12 package.

The LT3473 does not include these NPNs and is offered in a 3 x 3mm DFN-8 package.

The LT3473 and LT3473A are both available from stock in a 3 x 3mm DFN and 3 x 4mm DFN package, respectively.

Pricing starts at $1.95 each for the LT3473 and $2.05 each for the LT3473A, both in 1000 piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Linear Technology Corp ...
