Serial ADCs support scalable sensor
systems
Single- and dual-channel 12bit A/D convertors communicate via an SPI-compatible serial interface at output rates up to 500Ksample/s.
The LTC2302 and LTC2306, just released by Linear Technology, are pin- and software-compatible single- and dual-channel 12bit A/D convertors that communicate via an SPI-compatible serial interface at output rates up to 500Ksample/s The LTC2302 measures a single differential input channel, suitable for measuring bridge sensors

RF mixers take transformers onboard
Linear Technology has released two new high linearity up-converting RF active mixers with integrated RF transformers.
The LTC2306 includes an internal multiplexer and measures two single-ended or one differential input channel.
Both the LTC2302 and LTC2306 are software-compatible with the existing LTC2308 12bit 500Ksample/s eight-channel ADC, making it easy to port code between applications measuring one, two or eight analogue channels.
The LTC2302 and LTC2306 operate from a single 5V supply, dissipating only 15mW at the 500Ksample/s output rate.
Power dissipation decreases dramatically at slower output rates, dissipating only 70uW at 1Ksample/s.
For further power savings, a sleep mode reduces the power to 35uW.
With their low power and tiny 3 x 3mm DFN-10 package, the LTC2302 and LTC2306 are ideal for high-speed data acquisition and portable designs.
The LTC2302/LTC2306 achieve excellent DC specifications, including +/-1LSB (maximum) INL and DNL.
With a fully differential sample-and-hold circuit to reduce common mode noise, these ADCs also excel when digitising AC input signals, measuring 73dB SINAD and -88dB THD at 10kHz.
A separate digital output supply voltage allows users to configure the serial data output for 3 or 5V logic.
The LTC2302 and LTC2306 are available today in both commercial and industrial temperature grades.
The LTC2302 and LTC2306 are competitively priced, beginning at US $2.10 for 1000-piece quantities. Request a free brochure from Linear Technology Corp ...
