Embedded software makes radio modules
run right
Low Power Radio Solutions has released the first in its easy-Radio family of ready-to-run low power radio systems.
Low Power Radio Solutions has released the first in its easy-Radio family of ready-to-run low power radio systems The FMTX2-4-ER and FMRX2-4-ER are a perfectly matched high-performance FM SAW-controlled transmitter and receiver operating in the 433.92MHz ISM band for use in all European markets

DECT modules provide ready-to-run radio
Low Power Radio Solutions has expanded its product range with its first DECT-based system.
And because they are supplied as standard with embedded easy-Radio software protocols, OEMs can effectively ignore the radio and get on with designing their applications.
The FMTX2-4-ER easy-Radio enabled transmitter will accept most forms of standard data at the input, convert the data to an efficient over-air format and transmit it to the FMRX2-4-ER easy-Radio enabled receiver.
The receiver then feeds the data to the user's host processor, converted back to its original state.

VHF modules provide a long-range alternative
Low Power Radio Solutions has extended its range with the addition of a miniature PCB-mounting VHF radio transmitter/receiver pair for extended range data links.
Because it transmits data in the most efficient format, the easy-Radio protocol will maximise the performance of any radio link.
And combined with the high-performance design of the FMTX2-4-ER and FMRX2-4-ER, designers can be assured of consistent performance, even in hostile noisy environments.
The FMTX2-4-ER transmitter produces an RF output of +9dBm (8mW) with exceptional frequency stability.
When this is combined with the high sensitivity (-107dBm) of the FMRX2-4-ER superhet receiver and the efficiency of the embedded easy-Radio software, ranges of up to 300m are easily attainable outdoors, or up to 74m indoors.
And for applications requiring high-speed data telemetry, a reliable throughput of 40Kbit/s can be realised.
Both the transmitter and receiver are compact low-power-consumption devices suitable for battery-powered portable applications.
The FMTX2-4-ER transmitter is housed in an 8-pin screened SIL package measuring just 41 x 14 x 5mm; the FMRX2-4-ER receiver comes in a 10-pin SIL package measuring 56 x 19 x 5mm.
Each device runs from a single 3-5V supply.
The FMTX2-4-ER and FMRX2-4-ER use the Radiometrix TX2 and RX2 RF engines.
They are part of a family of easy-Radio devices from Low Power Radio Solutions.
Like other devices in the range, they provide OEMs with a radio solution which complies with all relevant international radio and EMC regulations, and which is simple to integrate into any end application.
The company can also add a number of customised software solutions for orders greater then 100-off.
