Transceiver takes protocols onboard
Low Power Radio Solutions has improved its most popular transceiver by embedding its patented easy-Radio communications protocol into the Radiometrix BiM.
Low Power Radio Solutions has improved its most popular transceiver by embedding its patented easy-Radio communications protocol into the Radiometrix BiM As a result, OEMs designing with the BiM2-4-ER transceiver can get their products to market in record time, with no further programming required to obtain the maximum possible performance from this true bidirectional radio link

DECT modules provide ready-to-run radio
Low Power Radio Solutions has expanded its product range with its first DECT-based system.
Operating in the harmonised pan-European SRD band at 433.92MHz, and fully compliant with both EN 300 220-1 and ETS 300 683, the BiM integrates a SAW-controlled FM transmitter with a double-conversion superhet receiver.
And, with the easy-Radio software automatically converting the transmitted data into its "radio-efficient" format, applications using the BiM2-4-ER can take advantage of an increased range in excess of 300m in open air, or 50m indoors, as well as reliable data telemetry at a sustained 64Kbit/s.
The easy-Radio process is entirely transparent.
The transmitter section of the BiM accepts almost any standard data format, converts it and transmits it.
The receiver section receives the easy-Radio data and converts it back automatically into its original format.
The BiM2-4-ER is ideal for handheld terminals, EPOS equipment, barcode scanners, belt clip printers, data loggers and any application where bidirectional communication is required.
Two versions are available, for operation from nominal 5 or 3.3V single supplies.
Power consumption is particularly low for the 3.3V version, which typically consumes just 8mA while transmitting and 14mA while receiving.
Low-power standby modes reduce consumption in power-sensitive battery-powered portable applications.
Operating temperature range is -10 to +55C, with reduced performance available over an extended -20 to +70C range.
The BiM2-4-ER is part of a family of easy-Radio devices from Low Power Radio Solutions.
Like other devices in the range, it provides OEMs with a radio solution which complies with all relevant international radio and EMC regulations, and which is simple to integrate into any end application.
The company can also add a number of customised software solutions for orders greater then 100-off.
