After completing a one-year development phase, Laser Components' wholly owned Canadian subsidiary is now in full production of its own high power pulsed laser diodes Headed up by Paul Rainbow, the Canadian development team have many years expertise in this field

Applications for the 850, 905 and 1550nm pulsed laser diodes include: law enforcement, laser radar, security scanners, laser light curtains as well as test and measurement systems.

Gunther Paul, President of Laser Components, says: "This step enables us to become more independent from outside suppliers, a move that will certainly benefit our customers.

We expect shorter response and lead times as well as improved planning security and more flexibility towards pricing and new products".

The new range includes 850, 905 and 1550nm single and stacked emitters.

By stacking the diode chips in series, intense pulses of radiation with peak powers exceeding 120W may be obtained, when operated up to 0.1% duty factor.

Typical pulsewidths are in the range 200-1000ns at frequencies in the low kilohertz range.

The Canadian division of Laser Components is dedicated exclusively to the supply of pulsed laser diodes and is interested in discussing custom designs for new applications.
