The ModBox Series is a family of turnkey optical transmitters and external modulation benchtop units for both digital and analogue transmission applications.

Photline Technologies, a provider of high speed modulation solutions, has released the ModBox Series, a range of versatile transmitters and external modulation benchtop units The ModBox Series is a family of turnkey optical transmitters and external modulation benchtop units for both digital and analogue transmission applications

The Modbox design integrates within a 2U 19in enclosure a laser source (optional), a complete modulation stage featuring an external LiNbO3 modulator with RF driver and bias control circuit, and a receiver stage (optional).

The ModBox design can be tailored to specific transmission needs in order to provide systems engineers with reliable performance and high speed modulation capabilities, which include: digital modulation at up to 43Gbit/s; RZ, NRZ, PSBT, DPSK, QPSK modulation formats; analogue modulation up to 20GHz; and a choice of laser source - external, DFB or tunable.

Off-the-shelf ready-to-use NRZ-RZ 10Gbyte/s ModBox units are available for delivery.
