Embedded RAID software speeds SATA

Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has selected the LSI Logic embedded Serial ATA (SATA) software RAID for its next-generation Intel-based Primergy S2 SATA servers for RAID 0 and 1.

The LSI Logic embedded RAID software uses the Intel 6300ESB from the Intel E7210 family, which enables SATA drives by integrating a two-port SATA controller that facilitates high-speed data transfers at up to 150Mbyte/s for each of the two ports.
SATA supports servers conducting ERP solutions, high-speed file sharing and other data-intensive applications.
"Fujitsu Siemens Computers' selection of our embedded SATA software RAID for its Primergy S2 product line for entry-level servers further enhances our relationship, which includes design wins for LSI Logic MegaRAID Ultra320 PCI-X and PCI adapters and RAID on Motherboard (ROMB) technology", said Phil Bullinger, Vice President and General Manager of the LSI Logic RAID Storage Adapters Division.

The Fujitsu Siemens Computers Primergy S2 entry-level rack servers offer customers high density at a low cost.
Its monoprocessor design and SATA hard disk technology deliver an excellent price/performance ratio.
In addition, the SATA RAID-0/1 controller provides the highest data availability with hard disk mirroring.
