On the heels of receiving the industry's first Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) certification at 0.13-micron process technology, LSI Logic is now offering full DO-254 certification support for its military and aerospace customers Leveraging its systems expertise and technology, LSI Logic is now offering leading-edge RapidChip platform ASIC solutions to designers seeking to ensure continued airworthiness through DO-254 certification

"LSI Logic has several competitive advantages in the military and aerospace market, not the least of which is our process and systems knowledge", said John Bendekovic, Director of Military and Aerospace Marketing and Business Development for LSI Logic.

"We are making use of that knowledge to integrate our RapidChip platform ASIC offering into supporting DO-254 certification.

We have the processes, people and systems in place to make DO-254 certification easier and faster for our customers".

The Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) DO-254 standard titled "Design assurance guidance for airborne electronic hardware" was developed by the avionics industry to establish hardware deployment guidelines for developers, verification engineers, quality managers, installers and users from conception through initial certification and subsequent post certification product improvements.

As the first semiconductor supplier granted membership into the European (EU) DO-254 User Group, LSI Logic is leading the semiconductor industry in defining DO-254 qualification best practices.

Commenting on the importance of DO-254 certification support, Lionel Burgaud, current Head of the EU DO-254 User Group said: "DO-254 is an emerging guidance document and we collaborate to cross experiences and expertise in order to have a very practical approach for project management and tool-supported processes".
