James H Keyes is the new Chairman of LSI Logic, succeeding former Chairman and LSI Logic founder Wilfred J Corrigan.

LSI Logic has announced that its Board of Directors has elected lead director James H Keyes to serve as its nonexecutive Chairman, succeeding former Chairman and LSI Logic founder Wilfred J Corrigan, whose term expired this month "Jim has provided invaluable leadership and counsel to LSI through his many years of service as a board member and as its lead director for the last two years", said Abhi Talwalkar, LSI Logic President and Chief Executive Officer

"I am pleased that we will be guided by his great wealth of experience as we focus on the opportunities ahead to fully leverage our strengths in information storage and consumer electronics".

Keyes, 65, becomes Chairman following Corrigan's announcement earlier this year that he would not seek re-election to the post, concluding 25 years of distinguished service to LSI as its founder, former Chief Executive and Board Chairman.

"We're extremely grateful to Wilf Corrigan for the remarkable and enduring contributions he has made to LSI, its employees and our industry throughout his career", said Talwalkar.

"We are very fortunate to have had the benefit of his leadership for 25 years and wish him every success in the future".

Keyes is the retired Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Controls, a maker of automotive systems and facility management and control products.

During his tenure there he held positions as Corporate Controller, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and President prior to being named as CEO in 1988 and elected Chairman in 1993.

He has served as a member of the LSI Logic Board of Directors since 1983 and is currently a member of the Audit, Compensation and the Nominating and Corporate Governance committees.

"It has been my great pleasure to work closely with LSI for many years as it has grown to become a recognised market leader in providing silicon, systems and software for the consumer and storage markets", said Keyes.

"I look forward to leading the board in providing guidance and strong support for the company's growth objectives".

Keyes holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Marquette University and an MBA degree from Northwestern University.

He currently serves as a director for Navistar International and Pitney Bowes.
