Kit puts MCUs in charge of BLDC motors

Set for launch at the Embedded World Show 2008 in Nuremberg, Germany, the Luminary Micro Stellaris BLDC Motor Control Reference Design Kit (RDK-BLDC) with Ethernet and CAN contains all necessary hardware and software to design, develop and integrate new BLDC motor applications It combines the strength and flexibility of Luminary Micro's Stellaris microcontrollers with Fairchild Semiconductor's power modules, creating a sophisticated four-quadrant motor control for three-phase brushless DC motors rated at up to 36V

The demo will include two conveyor belts and four robotic arms working in complex motion sequence transfers, which will stack wooden blocks in continuous circulation.
Seven control boards using a total of three different Stellaris microcontrollers communicate to operate the distributed control system.
The overall process is configured and monitored by an embedded web server running on a Stellaris EK-LM3S8962 evaluation board.
The embedded web server technology enables any authorised person with access to the worldwide web to view and control the system.
