Testers take on MAN interfaces
Demand for equipment to support the testing of the various interfaces supplied by OEMs within the Metropolitan Area Network is on the increase according to Livingston.
The investment concerns NIC Plus (network information computer) boxes, manufactured by Digital Lightwave, which offer fully scalable testing platforms for global Sonet/SDH, PDH, ATM and POS networks.
Some of Livingston's new units are available with the optical spectrum analyser option or the Gigabit Ethernet option.
"Maintaining a young inventory and staying abreast of key trends is paramount in our line of business", said Dave Crookall, Inventory Manager at Livingston.
"If you don't continuously invest your inventory becomes outdated very quickly and customers are forced to look elsewhere".
"By listening to our customers and anticipating their needs we found they were looking for portable equipment with multitechnology testing capabilities", said Fiona Horrocks, Director and General Manager of Livingston's Test Equipment Management Services.
"The NIC Plus boxes meet that requirement perfectly and will help engineers overcome the challenges of today's multiprotocol network by verifying and qualifying the performance of today's global communications networks".
Livingston's new equipment will be available immediately for rental or lease and will join an already expansive inventory including products from leading test and measurement equipment manufacturers such as Acterna, Agilent, Anritsu and NetTest.
