"The 1700 Toshiba notebooks will be used during the FIFA World Cup 2006 in almost all of the organisational areas", explains Siegbert Franz, Managing Director of Livingston Electronic Services, Darmstadt.
In the accreditation centres of all 12 FIFA World Cup stadia, the Livingston PCs will give support in the registration of visitors and the issuing of photo identification.
By FIFA renting these notebooks from the German branch of the Livingston Group, the expected 15,000 media representatives (journalists and technicians) from all over the world will have access to these Toshiba notebooks in the media centres of all 12 stadia as well as in the central international media centre located on the Munich exhibition grounds.
All notebooks offer cable-free Internet access and rapid exchange of e-mails and documents with editorial offices through built-in wireless LAN.
70 units will be used by FIFA employees, responsible for media, and by the stadium co-ordinators.
The 15,000 volunteers and the personnel in charge of transportation and accommodation of VIPS will be co-ordinated via mobile PCs and the on site WLAN access points.
Anyone wanting to buy one of the 1700 official FIFA World Cup notebooks can have a preview of the systems and make reservations online.
After the World Cup, Livingston will sell the notebooks purchased exclusively for the World Cup 2006 with a discount of more than 50%.
And best of all, if desired, customers can receive the notebooks with a label of authenticity and certificate.
