Empress Software and LynuxWorks pursue similar interests in the fields of manufacturing, industrial process control, payment solutions and other embedded, real-time applications.
The Empress database engine and standard application programming interfaces provide LynxOS 4.0 developers with a reliable database component embeddable into mission-critical, real-time embedded solutions.
"Using a commercial database engine such as Empress instead of a home-grown system makes economic sense.
Developers save significant time in the valuable development phase, and even a greater amount of money in subsequent years of product maintenance", states Ivor Ladd, Vice President of Technology at Empress Software.
Empress Software and LynuxWorks both value openness and strong adherence to industry standards.
LynxOS 4.0 offers Linux binary compatibility, where Linux C application programs can run unchanged under LynxOS.
Empress delivers that flexibility to its users.
Empress RDBMS Version 8.62 developers can develop C applications on Linux, then transparently deploy them on LynxOS 4.0.
There is no need to recompile the Empress database engine, the applications written in Empress MR Kernel Level C API or Empress Embedded SQL.
"We are pleased that Empress RDBMS is now available to developers using LynxOS 4.0", said Bob Morris, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for LynuxWorks.
"This is further validation of our philosophy that providing off-the-shelf solutions based on open standards is good for our customers-they can buy compatible, easy-to-use software, save time, and focus their energy and expertise on developing more unique features for their products".
