Compact supplies meet UL requirements
The latest additions to the Magnetek HP power supply family comply with Underwriters Laboratories' requirements to display the UL recognised mark.
The five-slot MM5 Series provides 900/1200W output power in a compact package (2.5 x 5 x 11in).
The MM5 has a power rating of 900W through the full 85-264V AC input range and 1200W with a 180-264V AC input.
The power supply provides up to five outputs ranging from 1 to 60V with no minimum load requirements, and provides output combinations that meet all international and safety emission requirements.

Aurora 3.6kW wind power inverters have been tested and listed to UL1741 standard by CSA for grid-connected operation on the utility power grid throughout the USA and Canada.
Inverters are made for large-scale solar power
Magnetek has unveiled a new generation of photovoltaic (PV) inverters for commercial and large residential solar power installations.
A standby output of 5V at 2A is provided along with single-wire active current sharing necessary for paralleling output modules.
As a modular power supply, the MM5 Series can be quickly assembled to meet custom output specifications to give designers reliability and flexibility that eliminates engineering costs and long lead-times associated with custom power supplies.
The Magnetek advanced synchronous rectification techniques and zero voltage switching power factor correction provides higher efficiency (80-87% at full load) to produce an industry-leading 8.7W/in3 along with less heat.
With up to 60A output current per slot, the MM5 provides the highest output current capacity from a single slot of any modular power supply of equivalent size.
The new MM5 Series requires no minimum load and supports both forward and reverse cooling so that users can implement an optimised cooling configuration.
Output module functions include global and individual inhibit/enable, remote sense on all outputs, and series or parallel capability.
Output voltage will deviate by less than 3% for a 25-75% step change in load current, and will fully recover in under 500us.
Output voltage of each module can be adjusted +/-10% with internal potentiometer or external programming voltage.
The new supply is ideal for complex telecomms, computer and industrial designs.
There is also a low-leakage option for medical applications.
The MM5 Series is the first of a complete line of new modular AC/DC power supplies.
Future models will offer more slots, multiple-output modules, as well as specialty modules with options for battery chargers.
Evaluation units of the new supplies are available in two weeks, with production quantities available four weeks ARO.
Pricing for the MM5 Series AC/DC modular power supplies ranges from about $615 in OEM quantities.
