MasTec splits to specialised markets
MasTec International based in Auckland New Zealand has announced the creation of two new companies, Ultimate Power Systems and MasTec Instrumentation that will start trading on the 1st August 2001.

Ultimate Power Systems (UPS) will focus entirely on AC and DC power systems.
With an installed base of more than 30,000 power systems in New Zealand, and a line up of world leading brands such as Power Kinetics, TrippLite, Alpha Technologies, Lighten, Sterling, Panasonic and Panamax, Rose Electronics, Sterling, Optima, Panasonic Batteries, Ultimate Power Systems starts-off with a large share of the New Zealand, Australian and Pacific power market in AC and DC systems.
MasTec Instrumentation will focus on entirely on instrumentation and automation.
With its 3500+ automation, test and measurement hardware sites in New Zealand, and more than 1000 programmers using the company's software, MasTec Instrumentation will continue to expand.
The recent purchase of the process control and quality control company, Smartworks, will fuel this expansion.
Both companies will continue to operate out of headquarters in Avondale, Auckland, and will have the same contact details until further notice.
