Slimline relays squeeze in for dense switching

A Panasonic Electric Works UK product story

The compact single inline AQG series of solid-state relays from Matsushita Electric Works comprises a range of devices measuring only 4.5mm thick.

Matsushita Electric Works has launched the latest family in its range of solid-state relays, the AQG series.

An AQG relay is a compact single inline device measuring only 4.5mm thick.

Previously, snubber circuitry had to be designed separately.

Now the AQG has an integral snubber circuit incorporated into the relay design, and with compact packaging, typical board area real estate has been reduced by 30% (compared with conventional solid-state relays).

The AQG series is available with zero crossing detection as an option, and the integral snubber circuitry prevents malfunction and misoperation caused by fast-rising voltage spikes on the output side.

The devices are rated at 1 and 2A switching currents, at load voltages ranging from 75 to 264V AC.

Isolation between input and output is 3000V RMS and the drive side of the AQG can be chosen to work from 5, 12 or 24V DC.

The ambient temperature characteristics for the AQG relay are -30 to +80C.

Typical applications for the AQG cover a vast array of manufacturing equipment, including numerically controlled machines, injection moulders and assembly robots to name a few.

Successful applications have also been found in air conditioning equipment and computer interface cards.
