The new APV photovoltaic MOSFET driver offers design engineers increased flexibility and reduces board space.

The new APV photovoltaic mosfet driver offers design engineers increased flexibility and reduces board space The interface chip allows circuit designers to select their own mosfet to suit their circuit design requirements rather than having to rely on a standard photoMOS device range

The device uses an LED drive stage and a photoreceptive circuit to switch output mosfets, eliminating the need for wires and thereby ensuring excellent I/O isolation and ultimately safety.

Apart from increasing flexibility, the APV driver allows the designer to save valuable board space.

By incorporating a built-in control circuit, it eliminates the need for other external components like optoisolators, capacitors and resistors.

The APV driver converts light to voltage, creating an ideal solution to providing high I/O isolation.

Using the same basic circuitry as the Matsushita photoMOS relays, the APV driver allows for both fast turn on and turn off times, 0.4ms and 0.1ms respectively, of the mosfets which allows rapid switching if required.

Offering isolation up to 5000V RMS, the APV drivers are available in three package sizes, standard DIP, SOP and SSOP, all with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85C.
