Maxwell Technologies has been selected from a field of hundreds as a finalist for this year's EDN Magazine Innovator Awards.

Maxwell's Boostcap ultracapacitor cells and multicell modules have been nominated in the power sources category.

As noted by EDN Magazine in its recent nomination: "Maxwell bases them [Boostcap] on a technology breakthrough that enables the cells and modules to store more energy, deliver more power per unit volume, and last longer than any other commercially available ultracapacitor product".

"Maxwell designed both the energy- and power-type ultracapacitor cells to meet and exceed transportation and industrial application requirements for watt-hours of energy storage and watts of power delivery per kilogram".

"The devices are a good choice for 'green' applications, such as hybrid drive-train and energy-distribution options with significantly reduced emissions and less pollution for a sustainable future".
