Speedy DAC claims dynamic superiority for comms
The MAX5195 is a 14bit 260Msample/s DAC claimed to provide the world's best dynamic performance in spurious-free dynamic range, intermodulation distortion and signal to noise ratio.
Low-power serial ADC runs up to 200Ksample/s
New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
The MAX1565 provides all voltage outputs required in most digital camera designs.
The internal switch step-up and step-down DC/DC convertors include synchronous rectifiers to give 95% efficient conversion for the logic and core supplies (which use over 60% of the camera's power).
They provide complete power for the 3.3V logic, and 1.5 or 1.8V core supply.
The three step-up controllers supply power for a white LED (W-LED) or CCFL backlight module, positive and negative CCD biases, motor drivers, and positive and negative LCD biases.
All supplies have independent on/off control.
The MAX1565's 5 x 5mm thin QFN package is 70% smaller than existing solutions using all controllers.
This device also eliminates 27 external components such as diodes, external power switches, resistors and capacitors, and saves 63% board space.
The DC/DC convertor's switching frequency is adjustable up to 1MHz, permitting optimum size, cost, and efficiency.
The input voltage range is 0.7 to 5.5V, and it is intended for single-cell, lithium-ion (Li+), and two- or three-cell alkaline battery inputs.
If more voltages are required in the system, the MAX1565 can be expanded with minimal cost.
It supplies power, an oscillator signal, and a reference to one or more MAX1801 slave controllers.
The MAX1801 is a low-cost SOT, low-side DC/DC controller for step-up, SEPIC, and fly-back configurations for accessories such as motor drives for zooming and focusing.
Up to five slave controllers can be added.
The MAX1565 is screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40 to +85C).
The MAX1565ETJ price starts at $2.60 (1000-up, FOB USA).
An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
