RF flip-chip tuners for Japan
Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX2161 and MAX2162 dual-band, dual-mode tuners for Japanese digital broadcasts
RF flip-chip tuners for Japan's mobile-broadcast TV and digital radio bands Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX2161 and MAX2162 dual-band, dual-mode tuners for Japanese digital broadcasts. The devices receive UHF and VHF band III and support both 1-segment and 3-segment broadcasts using the ISDB-T standard.

The extremely small size of these devices enables product designers to produce television systems that meet the tiny-footprint and low-height requirements of the burgeoning Japanese cell-phone-TV market.
The MAX2161/MAX2162 tuners contain all of the blocks needed to implement a low-IF TV tuner, except for a crystal and the front-end filters needed to reject interfering cellular-transmit signals.
In mobile-TV mode, the devices achieve a maximum sensitivity of -98dBm with no external filters or amplifiers, and they can withstand adjacent analogue-TV interference of greater than 50dBc at a sensitivity of -95dB.
This industry-leading interference rejection reduces both filter complexity and cost.
Each device is fully RF tested during production utilising Maxim's proprietary technology.
The MAX2161SEWA/MAX2162SEWA tuners operate from a 2.7 to 3.3V supply over the -40 to +85C temperature range, and they draw 110mW (typ) in low-power mode.
These devices are available in custom 46-pin wafer level packages (WLPs), and 40-pin TQFN-EP versions (MAX2161ETL and MAX2162ETL) will be made available in the future.
Prices start at US $4.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
