Linear regulators in miniature packaging
The MAX884x family of ultra-low-noise, low-dropout 150mA linear regulators come in miniature packages for space constrained applications
Maxim Integrated Products has brought out the MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 ultra-low-noise, low-dropout (LDO), 150mA linear regulators These devices are available in a tiny 1 x 1.5 x 0.8mm microDFN package that enables a total product size as small as 3.9mm2, including external components

New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
This compact product is suitable for space-constrained designs, such as cell phones, smartphones, PDAs, and notebook PCs.
The MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 operate from a 2 to 6V supply, making them optimal for single-cell, Lithium-ion battery-powered applications.
Battery time is maximised due to extremely low ground-pin current (40uA, typ in operation, 50nA, typ in shutdown).
With only 11uV rms of output noise (100Hz, typ) and 78dB PSRR (1kHz, typ), the MAX8840 is suitable for powering circuits that require a low-noise supply, such as RF, cell-phone cameras, and PA bias supplies.
The MAX8841 has the smallest overall footprint, as it does not need a bypass capacitor, thus making it suitable for core, logic, and memory power-supply applications.
The MAX8840/MAX8841 support fixed output voltages of 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 2.6V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 2.85V, 3.0V, 3.3V, and 4.5V.
The MAX8842 allows any voltage between 1.225 and 4.5V to be programmed with a simple resistor divider.
Other MAX8840/MAX8841/MAX8842 features include an active-low shutdown-control pin, overcurrent and thermal protection, and operation over the extended temperature range (-40 to +85C).
All devices are available in lead-free, 1 x 1.5 x 0.8mm microDFN packages.
Pricing starts at US $0.54 (2500-up).
