Mayteck has developed a novel expansion module that permits up to four standard PCI cards to be inserted into a single CompactPCI slot.

Mayteck has developed a novel expansion module that permits up to four standard PCI cards to be inserted into a single CompactPCI slot The bridge module gives CompactPCI system developers access to the large number of PCI boards available worldwide enabling them to reduce their time to market

The expansion unit is inserted in a free device slot of CompactPCI backplane.

It is best used with a backplane that has the host on the right hand side.

The unit is then inserted in the first slot on the left.

No slots are lost in this manner, and even long PCI cards can be inserted.

The BIOS used must be compatible with PCI specification 2.1.

The bridge will be recognised automatically by the plug-and -play BIOS.

The expansion unit has an automatic signal voltage level adaptation feature for 5 and 3.3V systems.

Five LED displays on front panel indicate voltages present: 3.3V, 5V, V(I/O), +12V and -12V.

Additional current injection can be provided via Faston connectors or rear I/O modules; the maximum current a CPCI slot can supply is: +5V - 8A, +3.3V - 10A, +12V - 1A and -12V - 1A.

A JTAG connector can be activated by jumper, connecting the JTAG from the CompactPCI bus to the PCIbus.

A resettable fuse (1.25A) is integrated on the assembly between the primary (CompactPCI) and the secondary (PCIbus).

Complementary devices available from Mayteck include: CompactPCI fabric boards, PCI fabric boards, PCI expansion units, CompactPCI rear I/O fabric boards and fabric switches.
