Transimpedance amp is made for colour sensors
New from Mazet at the recent Sensor + Test show in Nuremberg was the MTI04CS/CQ series of multichannel transimpedance amplifiers.
Cable receivers boast bigger dynamic range
Mazet has released fully functional prototypes of its newly developed fibre-optic cable receivers, which will be available as standard assemblies in larger batches in the second half of the year.
Sensors show their true colours in Nuremberg
Mazet is set to satisfy demands for true colour sensors by launching its Jencolour true colour portfolio just in time for Sensor + Test 2005 in Nuremberg.
The MTI circuits are designed for use in preparing signals from sensors with current outputs.
The higher sensitivity and greater dynamics of the amplifier make it easier to interface with devices such as the new Jencolour MTCSiCx true colour sensor, even at low light volumes and dynamic intensity or colour.
The MTI circuits conform to RoHS and are supplied for COB assembly.
The MTI04CS/CQ signal amplifier has four channels integrated on one chip, enabling signal preparation for three-range colour sensors (including reference diode) in one component.
This ability to set the transimpedance of the MTI04CS/CQ at eight different levels gives the customer a wide area in which to accommodate all application requirements.
Programming is carried out via three inputs and takes effect for all channels simultaneously.
In order to activate various different photodiodes, it is possible to adapt the compensation of the transimpedance amplifier digitally in two stages (5 and 80pF) to the input capacity of the photodiodes.
Input sensitivity is 4x higher than that of Mazet's first generation devices.
The lowest current measurement range is 25nA.
Its ability to convert photocurrents to the set nanoamp range makes the MTI04SC/CQ applicable to even the smallest sensor signals.
The integrated power-down mode enables the MTI04CS/CQ to switch to energy-saving mode.
If the MTI04CS/CQ does not need to be used for a short time, bias current consumption can be reduced to 8uA.
The operating temperature range runs from -40 to +125C.
These characteristics open up new applications for the signal amplifier, such as use in battery-operated measurement and control units.
