Alliance to tackle Japanese mobile TV
market
UK chipmaker is teaming up with a partner to raise interest in its universal broadcast receiver technology in the burgeoning Japanese market for mobile TVs.
Mirics Semiconductor, a UK-based provider of products for the mobile broadcast receiver market, is collaborating with Electronics Link Japan (ELJ) to exploit opportunities in the burgeoning Japanese mobile TV market for its advanced universal broadcast receiver technology ELJ's team of electronics specialists will work with Mirics to identify and win new business opportunities in Japan for the MSI001 polyband tuner

Takeshi Niwa, analyst at Japan's Techno Systems Research, comments: "In 2005, Korea was over 85% of the mobile TV market, but Japan is now enjoying rapid growth".
"We forecast that over 50% of mobile TVs sold in 2007 will be in Japan".
The MSI001 is an advanced universal broadcast receiver, enabling designers of mobile phones, portable media players, and PDAs to easily add mobile broadcast reception.
MSI001 supports all current digital terrestrial broadcast standards, and analogue radio, across all terrestrial broadcast bands enabling OEMs to design a single platform for mobile broadcast - independent of standards or regional differences.
