Embedded controller takes TCP/IP onboard
Micro-Robotics has added TCP/IP protocols to its VM-1 credit-card-sized embedded controller to allow users to communicate with other computers over the Internet.

The VM-1 from Micro-Robotics is a credit-card-sized embedded control computer that is used with Venom-SC, the latest version of the popular object-oriented control-system language.
This new capability will allow the VM-1 to connect to the Internet using a modem and telephone line or over the mobile phone network using a GPRS terminal and once connected it can use protocols commonly used by existing software.
The VM-1's programming language, Venom SC, has built-in support for both sending and receiving email and also enables the programmers to write their own applications using either UDP datagrams or TCP connections.
With TCP/IP, the user can create a simple web server application that allows the use of a standard web browser on a PC to both control and monitor data on a remote VM-1.
