The NPMC-DSP is a multipurpose resource board in a PMC module targeted at telecomms applications with extensive need for voice or data computation.
The NPMC-STM4 provides one STM-4/OC-12 622Mbit/s optical fibre interface on a standard SC-connector at the front panel.
The optical transceivers are available for single or multimode fibres.
Highly efficient SDH-to-TDM cross mapping functionality enables the user to add and/or drop any of 252 E1 or 336 T1/J1 64Kbit/s payloads of an OC-12/STM-4 SDH/Sonet frame.
The onboard H.110 TDM bus controller allows flexible switching of 64kbit/s timeslots of the E1/T1/J1 streams to and from the H.110 bus up to its maximum capacity of 4096 timeslots as well as the selection of one of the E1/T1/J1 clocks as the master clock for the TDM backplane bus.
The NPMC-STM4 fully supports the H.110 bus (PTMC) on the PMC I/O connector.
The NPMC-STM4 will handle all SDH standards - such as SS7, ISDN or 3G/3.5G mobile applications - in optical OC-12/STM-4 and Sonet environments.
The onboard add/drop multiplexer/demultiplexer chipset makes the NPMC-STM4 an ideal single board platform to interface between the frame oriented STM-4/SDH networks and classic TDM standards such as E1/T1/J1 or E3/T3/J3.
Designed to meet the needs of the telecomms industry, typical applications for the NPMC-STM4 will include use in high density add/drop or terminal multiplexers, as well as edge routers and digital modems or digital cross-connect systems.
Manufactured by NAT, the NPMC-STM4 is a P1386.1/Draft 2.1 compatible PMC that can be plugged onto any VME, cPCI or other carrier board offering a PMC extension slot.
