Mentor Graphics is the first to reach agreement with Texas Instruments to deliver coverification processor support packages (PSPs) for Texas Instruments DSP and microcontroller solutions.
Debug Detective is invoked directly from the ModelSim interface, providing real-time, interactive rendering of graphical and tabular descriptions of HDL designs during simulation.
This capability gives designers a new level of visibility and debug control throughout all levels of the design hierarchy without impacting the existing flow.
In addition, no source code changes are required and no additional database is generated or stored.
"Our customers want a way to use the debugging and analysis technology from the HDL Designer product in their existing simulation environment", said Valerie Rachko, director of marketing for HDL Designer Series at Mentor Graphics.
"Debug Detective has been designed to be a natural extension to the simulation tool, providing designers with faster debug and improved productivity without ever leaving simulation".
Debug Detective lets designers view any and all levels of the design as block diagrams, Interface-Based Design (IBD) tables, state machines or flow charts.
Enhanced debugging features include graphical breakpoints, signal probing, graphics to text source cross-highlighting, animation, cause analysis and total simulation control.
Debug Detective is available now at a price of $2000 US for a node locked license and $3000 US for a floating license.
It is available as an option to or bundled with ModelSim PE or SE, versions 5.4 or higher.
Debug Detective supports HP 10.20/11.0, Solaris 2.6/7/8, Windows 98/NT/2000 and Linux RedHat 6.0.
