Mentor Graphics and UMC have joined to deliver a complete turnkey design flow, including the availability of IC design kits, for UMC's RF and analogue/mixed-signal process technologies.
Mentor supports TI DSPs and MCUs
Mentor Graphics is the first to reach agreement with Texas Instruments to deliver coverification processor support packages (PSPs) for Texas Instruments DSP and microcontroller solutions.
Developers will now be able to use ModelSim in connection with communication controllers designed by TTChip.
TTChip develops chip models for TTP, the time-triggered protocol for safety-critical applications in the automotive and aerospace industries.
TTP is a fault-tolerant data communication network that is also used in by-wire systems.
Since synthesising and optimising a VHDL source modifies the original circuit structure, conventional top-down development presents significant problems when designing TTP communication controllers.
"Our work was greatly facilitated by the capabilities of ModelSim", explains Guenter Motzet, TTChip Business Development Manager.
"We are now able to meet both timing constraints and modularity requirements at the same time.
The result is highest quality in a shorter turnaround time".
Furthermore, emphasises Motzet, "Mentor's ModelSim provides users of TTChip's state-of-the-art IP cores with comprehensive test coverage and technology independence.
This supports the customer's process migration targets".
"Our co-operation with TTChip has always been a successful and rewarding business relationship", says Manfred Zaltron, Mentor Graphics Account Manager for Switzerland.
"TTChip makes very effective use of our development tools as it continues to invest in its future success".
Designed by TTChip and produced by AMI Semiconductor, the AS8202 controller combines TTP with all functions essential for the communication node of fault-tolerant bus systems in a single device.
The AS8202 complies with the TTP specifications developed by the TTA-Group, and it is available for commercial application.
