Joseph Sawicki has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the Mentor Graphics Design-to-Silicon Division.

"Mentor's Calibre product line has rapidly expanded from a point tool for physical verification to a design-to-silicon platform providing a full flow for IC manufacture", states Walden C Rhines, Mentor's Chairman and CEO.

"Joe's breadth and depth of experience will be invaluable as we continue to meet the needs of designers and manufacturers worldwide for 90 nanometre design and below".

The extensive Calibre design-to-silicon platform of software tools has experienced remarkable growth over the last four years - driven by a forward-looking roadmap which anticipated trends in the semiconductor industry such as increasing design complexity and a shift to nanometre process technology.

Sawicki (42) was most recently General Manager of Mentor's Physical Verification Division and has been with Mentor for over 13 years holding positions in application engineering, sales, marketing and management.

He holds a BSEE from the University of Rochester and an MBA from Northeastern University's High Technology Program.
