PCB designers can now use Mentor's Expedition Series advanced layout and routing capabilities with Cadence Allegro flows, including libraries and design data.

Further integration between Mentor's Expedition PCB design solution and the Cadence Allegro PCB layout system enables designers to use Mentor's Expedition Series advanced layout and routing capabilities with their Allegro flows, including libraries and design data "PCB is a strategic part of Mentor Graphics business and we are continuing to invest heavily in R and D and technology acquisitions to keep ahead of rapidly advancing PCB and IC/FPGA technology", stated Henry Potts, Vice President and General Manager, Systems Design Division, Mentor Graphics

"We are now happy to be able to support customers using mixed environments so they can take advantage of Expedition's advanced technology".

The integration of the Expedition PCB products complements other market-leading Mentor Graphics tools already established within the Allegro flow, including DxDesigner for design definition and HyperLynx for high-speed analysis.

The addition of Expedition PCB brings the latest in automatic and interactive routing, powered by revolutionary AutoActive technology.

Also, by adding Expedition PCB to their established environments users are now able to take advantage of advanced technology such as the revolutionary concurrent team layout design option, TeamPCB.

Expedition PCB combines the power of industry-leading autorouting technology with interactive editing capabilities to produce a single, powerful and easy-to-use design environment that produces drastically reduced design times.

This environment eliminates the burdens of jumping between tools to get jobs done and managing differences between the constraints on the autorouter and on interactive editing.

Expedition PCB reads and writes Allegro data directly and integrates with existing Allegro design flows, thereby maintaining and protecting investments in tools, libraries, design data and customised manufacturing outputs.

The Windows look and feel of Expedition's environment features familiar icons and intuitive commands that require minimal training for Allegro users.

Expedition PCB features advanced capabilities for HDI/microvia and build-up technology, as well as high-speed routing capabilities including tuned differential pairs, crosstalk, net scheduling, virtual pins, timing and impedance.

Finally, Expedition's correct-by-construction design methodology produces high quality results and eliminates clean up passes.

Completely functioned Expedition Series design solutions including high speed routing are available immediately beginning at $27,000 per year.
