Fuel-cell-powered UPS up for award
The Pulsar EX RT fuel-cell powered online uninterruptible power supply has been selected as a finalist in the power category for the EE Times ACE Awards Ultimate Products of the Year.
The Pulsar EX RT fuel-cell powered online uninterruptible power supply has been selected as a finalist in the power category for the EE Times ACE Awards Ultimate Products of the Year.
The EE Times ACE (Annual Creativity in Electronics) Awards honour the people, companies and products that demonstrate leadership in the electronics industry.
The editors of eeProductcentre.com, a member of the EE Times network, identify each month the best new product introductions in seven categories.
These products are then presented to a voting panel of more than 1000 engineers who rate the products on usability, application of technology and likelihood of use.
The high marks garnered by the Pulsar EX RT fuel-cell powered online UPS made it one of the top power products and a finalist for the EE Times Ultimate Product of the Year.
MGE's fuel cell powered Pulsar EX RT UPS provides virtually unlimited backup time to critical network systems as long as hydrogen fuel is supplied.
The hydrogen, which is contained in replaceable cylinders, is piped directly to the fuel cell module.
Like a battery, the fuel cell module produces DC voltage that is then bussed to the UPS.
The rack systems, which are based on MGE's proven double-conversion online technology, offer power protection optimised for maximum reliability and long backup times for high-density IT applications and servers.
Scaleable fuel cell modules are ideally suited to meet the needs of the UPS and telecommunications markets, where the limitations of batteries including inadequate run times, excess weight and floor space requirements have long presented difficulties for applications requiring backup in excess of one hour.
"This first fuel-cell powered online UPS offers the most robust backup power solution on the market today", said MGE's Vice President of Sales, Single Phase Products, Jeff Wood.
"We're pleased to be recognised for our product leadership by the editors of EE Times as well as the engineering community".
The winners of the EE Times ACE Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony on 9th March 2005 at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco.
