World's simplest buck regulator boosted to 2A
Micrel has boosted the output capability of the industry's simplest surface-mount DC/DC switching convertor to 2A while retaining the device's original SO-8 packaging.
Dual and triple 135MHz low-power op amps
Consuming just 2.4mA per op amp, the MIC915 dual and MIC916 triple op amps extend Micrel's premier family of high-speed, low-power op amps for power-sensitive high-speed applications.
It also has extremely low dropout of 60mV typical at 150mA, allowing for longer battery life in portable applications.
The new device is the latest addition to Micrel's line of LDO regulators featuring uCap capability.
This design allows flexibility in a choice of either ceramic or tantalum output capacitors.
The MIC5305 is offered in a miniature thermally superior 2x2 MLF package, and is also available in the TSOT23-5 package for applications not as thermally demanding.
When compared to a TSOT-23, the 2x2 MLF requires 55% less footprint and offers three times improvement in thermal resistance.
"The MIC5305 is the world's highest performing 150mA LDO regulator", says Steve Knoth, LDO Product Marketing Manager.
"Its ultralow dropout, high PSRR and low ground current, coupled with its low noise and fast turn-on time, make it ideal for demanding portable applications such as cellular phone RF".
"If you add to this the superior thermal performance of the MLF package, you have an industry-leading solution for portable, space-sensitive applications", adds Knoth.
When the devices are purchased in a quantity of 1000, pricing for MIC5305 2x2 MLF/TSOT23-5 starts at $0.74/$0.66.
Samples are available, and production quantities are stock to 8 weeks ARO.
