Low-power RF receiver IC features enhanced sensitivity and selectivity, and is claimed to lead the industry in distance performance.

The latest addition to the Micrel QwikRadio RF receiver family features enhanced sensitivity and selectivity, and is claimed to lead the industry in distance performance The MICRF213 is a general purpose, 3.3V QwikRadio receiver operating in the 315MHz range

All Micrel QwikRadio RF receivers are designed to meet the rigorous cost and design cycle needs of quickly developing RF applications including telemetry, wireless sensing, environmental monitoring, consumer entertainment remotes, remote actuation and lighting control, remote keyless entry and tyre pressure monitoring systems.

The MICRF213 is currently available in volume, with pricing starting at US $1.89 for 1000-piece quantities.

"With excellent selectivity, noise rejection, and a low external part count, this newest member of the QwikRadio family is particularly suited for the explosive remote actuation market", says John Lee, Micrel's Director of Mixed-Signal and RF Products.

"The MICRF213 augments the line of Micrel's market leading solutions in the subgigahertz CMOS RF arena by offering a solution ideal for many growing RF applications".

The device's operating frequency band is from 300 to 350MHz.

It offers designers a low current consumption of 3.9mA at 315MHz.

The MICRF213 features up to -110dBm sensitivity and functions as a super-heterodyne receiver for OOK and ASK modulation up to 7.2Kbit/s at 315MHz operating frequency.

The down-conversion mixer also provides image rejection to improve communication distance.

All post-detection data filtering is built-in on the MICRF213.

There are four filter bandwidths may be selected externally by the user in binary steps, from 1.18 to 9.44kHz at 315MHz operating frequency.

The designer need only configure the device with a set of easily determined values, based on datarate, code modulation format and desired duty-cycle operation.
