The Crocus SHDSL 1421 router is a baseband modem with an integrated IP router and bridge.

The Crocus SHDSL 1421 router is a baseband modem with an integrated IP router and bridge.

The new device offers symmetrical full duplex variable-rate transmission at up to 2.3Mbit/s over a single two-wire unconditioned, unshielded twisted-pair copper cable.

It is based on the new G.SHDSL standard for higher speeds and longer loop ranges.

The use of TC-PAM (trellis-coded pulse-amplitude modulation) guarantees spectral compatibility with other transmissions in the same bundle, so that the risks of crosstalk and intermodulation effects are minimised.

In addition to the built-in IP routing and bridging, the unit incorporates a 10/100 auto-sense Ethernet interface, built-in L2TP and ISPEC security, and advanced free maintenance software.

Other functions include class-of-service routing, VLAN interconnect, automatic line-rate adaptation, and ATM, frame-relay and PPP WAN encapsulation.

A two-pair model is available for transmission at up to 4.6Mbit/s.
