Zarlink Semiconductor and its global distributor Unique Memec are hosting a series of half-day seminars at locations across Europe to discuss trends in TDM (time division multiplex)-over-IP technology, as well as Zarlink's product directions.

Carriers and service providers are investigating the best methods for carrying circuit-switched voice services over IP/Ethernet packet-switched networks.

As the market leader in integrated TDM switching and timing technology, Zarlink has developed innovative products that cost-effectively support the transport of TDM voice, data, and video traffic over any type of packet network.

Zarlink's carrier-class TDM-over-IP processors use CESoP (circuit emulation services over packet) technology to "tunnel" TDM traffic through IP/Ethernet networks.

Zarlink's new processors are easier to implement, support a wider range of applications, and deliver true carrier-grade quality in comparison with other technologies, such as VoIP.

Seminar topics include an overview on how TDM-over-IP technology will meet the service needs of carriers today and tomorrow; examining TDM-to-IP technology with a focus on timing and synchronization issues; a summary of emerging CES standards under development by international organisations; and a technology demonstration of Zarlink's best-in-class TDM-over-IP processors.

Held in six locations, the free, half-day seminars begin in Israel on 28th March and conclude on 8th April in Germany.
