Mimix Broadband has a new Ku-band gallium arsenide (GaAs) power amplifier module (PAM) offered in a low-cost 4 x 4mm, plastic QFN package.

Mimix Broadband has a new Ku-band gallium arsenide (GaAs) power amplifier module (PAM) offered in a low-cost 4 x 4mm, plastic QFN package Using GaAs pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) device model technology, this PAM, identified as CMQ1432, covers the 13.75 to 14.5GHz frequency bands

The CMQ1432 provides 31dB gain and delivers 32dBm of saturated output power.

This low cost and ultracompact PAM is lead-free and is self-contained with 50ohm input and output terminals.

It is unconditionally stable, and the internal matching allows for a reduction in external components, making this product a simple and low cost solution.

The CMQ1432 is intended for use as the final RF amplifier in extended Ku-band satellite applications.

"Packaging is undoubtedly a key component of a low cost, surface mount Ku-band product", stated Damian McCann, Vice President, Product Development of Mimix Broadband.

"By putting our Ku-band amplifiers in standard QFN plastic packages, we have opened the door to our Vsat and multipoint radio customers for significant cost savings with no degradation in performance or quality".

Engineering samples are available today from stock.
