A MIPS Technologies product story

Conversay, a global leader in speech technology solutions for Internet access devices, has joined the MIPS Alliance Program to port its technology to the MIPS32 and MIPS64 processor architectures.

Conversay, a global leader in speech technology solutions for both mobile and traditional Internet access devices, announced it has joined the MIPS Alliance Program (MAP) to port its technology to the MIPS32 and MIPS64 processor architectures.

MIPS Technologies is a leading provider of industry standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and network applications.

Conversay has already successfully ported its speech technology to Microsoft Pocket PCs which feature 64bit MIPS processors, as found in the Casio Cassiopeia.

"To bring speech technology to the full spectrum of mobile devices running Pocket PC, it was critical that we port to the MIPS architecture'', said Matt Scheuing, executive vice president of marketing and sales for Conversay.

"We accelerated our development efforts since the MIPS architecture is used in many other areas where a voice interface would be desirable, including set-top boxes and networking devices''.

The MAP consists of third-party vendors who provide complete solutions around MIPS Technologies processors.

MIPS-based processors are found in digital entertainment devices such as set-top boxes and game consoles, consumer electronics, office automation machines and communications/networking equipment such as routers and servers.

"Conversay's technology extends the portfolio of MIPS-based applications in the digital consumer market'', said Brian Knowles, vice president of marketing at MIPS Technologies.

"Market demands clearly show that speech technology is a requirement for next-generation devices.

We're excited that Conversay is porting to our platform''.
