For the last three years, he was a vice president at Chartered Semiconductor, responsible for worldwide marketing, market development and customer engineering.
In his most recent role as VP of Business Development, Meyer was instrumental in developing recognition of the Chartered brand as one of the world's leading semiconductor foundries.
When he joined Chartered Semiconductor in 1998, Meyer played a key role in the formation of an alliance with MIPS Technologies that enables customers to rapidly deploy system-on-silicon solutions.
"Meyer's extensive experience in microprocessor marketing and familiarity with the Asian and global communications markets are enormous assets that promise to help position MIPS Technologies as the premier provider of 32-and 64-bit processor solutions in the years ahead", said John Bourgoin, chairman and CEO of MIPS Technologies.
"During his three years here, Meyer helped Chartered grow nearly three-fold to $1.2 billion in annual revenues in 2000", said Rob Baxter, senior vice president of business operations for Chartered.
"Chartered is pleased about having the opportunity to continue working with Kevin Meyer in his new role at MIPS Technologies, thereby building a deeper relationship between our two companies.
With his experience, he should have an immediate impact at MIPS".
