Fodus to base SOHO wireless devices on MIPS core

Wireless LAN specialist Fodus has licensed the MIPS32 4Kc processor core to develop next-generation SoCs for the global networking marketplace.

Wireless LAN specialist Fodus has licensed the MIPS32 4Kc processor core to develop next-generation SoCs for the global networking marketplace.

Fodus' total solution for wireless chipsets enables high-speed connections to networks based on IEEE802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g standards.

The chipsets operate seamlessly in the 2.4 and 5GHz frequency bands and deliver speeds up to 54Mbit/s.

Fodus will use its 4Kc core licence to develop SoCs for wireless routers, incorporating 802.11b/a/g wireless LAN access points, Ethernet switching routers and firewall and VPN functions into one chip.

This product will provide customers with an integrated and cost-effective solution for SOHO wireless devices.
